Seasonal Part Time (PT) Grounds Keeper - Job Description

Reporting:
Seasonal PT Dickson Housing Authority(DHA) and DHA Fund Grounds Keeper must report at least weekly for assignments & schedule from the full time maintenance personnel. The Executive Director is responsible for overseeing all DHA employees.

Schedule:
Seasonal position will begin in March and continue as needed through the month of October. Hours will vary according to the workload (approximately 24 hours per week). The work schedule is flexible. All duties may be completed any day of the business week however work must be completed during daylight hours for safety.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Grounds Keeping
• Mowing at Evans Heights and Crosby Terrace (must operate riding lawnmower)
• Trimming and edging lawn at Evans Heights and Crosby Terrace Apts.
• Clean yard debris as necessary at Evans Heights and Crosby Terrace Apts.
• Landscaping: trim shrubs at Evans Heights and Crosby Terrace Apts.
• Leaf/limb removal on Evans Heights and Crosby Terrace as needed
• Assist maintenance when necessary with spreading seed on bare areas on grounds
• Possible snow and ice removal from sidewalks
• Maintain street curb and parking lots, including removal of weeds at Evans Heights and Crosby Terrace

Other Responsibilities

• Provide regular communication to DHA's full time maintenance personnel
• Check in with full time maintenance personnel regularly for weekly schedule and assignment (s)
• Notify management of maintenance problems and recommend solutions
• Clean equipment after each use and wash debris from mower as needed
• Complete equipment checks to ensure machines are functioning properly (checking oil level and gas prior to every use)

• Must be able to work independently and be self sufficient
• Provide required services in a timely professional manner
• High Safety standards must be priority in order to keep tenants and staff safe
• Must be respectful of tenants privacy
• Must be able to interact with tenants and staff in a friendly professional manner
• Communicate timely and effectively with DHA staff and residents

Minimum Education, Training and Experience Requirements

• High School or GED
• Some grounds keeping experience preferred
• Ability to operate riding lawnmower
